4 player teams
Question
I scoured the answer library, but I couldn't find an answer to this. I play in an outdoor recreational league, where most teams have 4 players. The most common (and what I have found most effective) formation is the diamond. However, my team is entering a tournament with a rule that diamond cannot be used, only a 2-front 2-back formation. I can't seem to find any information on who is supposed to do what in this formation! And then there's the gaping hole in the middle of the court that seems larger in a square as opposed to the diamond. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated! :) (Sorry this got so long...)
Answer
Hannah,
I don't coach or play outdoors so I am not up on the rules BUT, if you are looking for a serve receive formation just serve receive with three players across and the setter releasing to the net on serve contact. If you have two front row hitters, they come back to serve receive, the setter stands right and back of the hitter who is in front of her and other back row player stands between and a foot back form the other two hitters. So it should look like this............
H H
BR S
If the setter is front row..........
S
H
BR BR
I think this should work. If this is not what you are looking for I'm sorry I couldn't have been more help.
Good luck,
