Volleyball Jump Program
Question
Hi,
I'm starting to get excited for the volleyball season coming up. I'm about 5"7 and I play middle. I was wondering if you had any jump programs I could use and not have to go to a gym or anything. I do have some gym equipment in my basement. It is one of those things where you can pull down with our arms and it also has a leg thing where you put your legs under the bars and you pull it up with your legs. PLEASE I need some help with my vertical jump! My friends have done a jump program from St.Thomas University and it helped them a lot so PLEASE PLEASE help me.

Good evening! Thank you for visiting www.allexperts.com! Please come again soon!
First, it's great that you want to jump higher. But, as I said in my bio, I'm not an athletic trainer or a weight room specialist.
However, the best way to improve your jumping is to JUMP, and do exercises like that......sprinting up hills or bleachers, jumping on boxes with weights in your hands, etc. Just use your imagination.
Second, if you're a 5'7" MB, then you must be incredible. However, if your team has some taller girls (who are just as athletic as you), then maybe those girls can play MB and you can play on the right or left. Sure, I've had 5'7" MB, but they blocked nearly nothing (unless the other teams were as tiny as we were haha) and weren't able to get many kills against good teams.
I'm not saying you can't continue to play MB on your school team. Again, my team made state final 4 in Virginia in 1999, and one of our MB's was 5'5" who was awesome!! (The other was 6'1"! haha) But the game of vball sure is easier when a team has MB's who are taller.
Once again........jump, spring, climb, work those legs.......not for long distances, but with explosive exercises.
