Volleyball substitutions: what order?

Question
Is there a certain order that substitutions must me made when subbing more than one person into the same position in high school volleyball? (ie. #3-#5-#13-#5-#3)

Answer
Good morning, and welcome to www.allexperts.com!

I just saw what you described yesterday at Davidson College!  I'm here watching a tournament with DC, Radford, UNC-Wilmington and Canisius.  Our coach was playing an OH and a DS in one spot.  Then she placed another OH in that spot to play all the way around.

At that point, either of the two girls on the bench may go back in.  In any order.  So the DS can now alternate with the "new" OH.  The original OH can begin playing all the way around, etc.  Also, there is no limit as how many times each girl goes in; except, there IS a limit on the total # of subs a coach uses in one set/game.  For example, the NCAA and USAV only allows 12 per game/set.  National Federation allows 18.  Was that clear?  Yes, each girl may go in 2 or 3 or 4 times; however, the TEAM can only have 12 total subs a game/set.

I hope that this answers your question.
