Hip is killing! Can you help me?
Question
Hey. I'm 16 years old and have been playing volleyball since I was about 10. I am currently playing for my high school team which has just started 2 weeks ago. my hip has been hurting for the 2 weeks, but now it is really bad when I play. I was wondering if you have any valuable advice for what I should do. Go get it checked, live through it? Your answer could save my hip. Haha. Thanks. I hope to hear back. :)
Answer
Good morning John:
You may not have had time to read about me. I'm not an athletic trainer. :( My advice is to see the athletic trainer at your school. If your school doesn't have one, then a neighboring high school probably does! If your parents call that trainer, they can probably make an appointment for you. The athletic trainer there will probably be able to help you with it.
Your parents may want to take you to a family dr., or to a pediatrician. That's OK, but that's like going to the science teacher for help with your algebra. I really recommend you go to someone who specializes in athletic injuries. There will probably be athletic trainers attending the next big tournament your team goes to. So, if you want a professional to check you out, go to the trainers there.
I'm sorry I can't be more helpful; but, again, I'm not an athletic trainer.
