Scouting.....Whats This Pie Chart?
Question
I have a scouting form which has a pie chart in it. Do you know what info goes on the pie charts? It is completely different then what I am use to. Thanks in advance. If you don't perhaps you could show me a form which is better.
Answer
Hello Adam!
I'm sorry that it's taken me so long to answer! Not enough hours in a day. I'm presently coaching a club team, arranging private lessons (we have 15 girls signed up for the next few weeks!#, putting my summer camps together #7 of those#, etc.
OK, the pie charts are to keep up with the teams' starting lineups. I'm assuming the two pies don't turn, right? They are printed on the paper, right? Well, then, as soon as you decide on your lineup, you enter your 6 #'s. As soon as the opponents get on the court, you enter their 6 #'s. This allows you to know what matchups you have. And if you discover that your hitter/blocker matchups aren't to your advantage, then you start in a different rotation the next set.
A coach in Roanoke uses referee pies. There are two of them that swivel on a little plastic card. In this way, you can keep up with your team's serve receive formation #and the opponents!#, you will know whose turn it is to serve, etc. I remember at the state finals here in Virginia in 2005, my stepd's team was called for an overlap. The assistant coach showed the R2 his pies. The coach was right, the R2 was wrong; but, the doofus R2 wouldn't change the call, and proceeded to tell the coach how to fix the non-existent problem. The head and assistant spent the entire 3 minutes b/t sets pleading their case. I don't know what the R2 saw different, but he didn't call any overlaps in the 2nd and 3rd games while the team was executing the exact same formations. Huh.
What else can I do for you? If you're in need of an inexpensive, fun, yet intense and hard working site camp, please check us out at www.coachhouser.com. Seven have already been scheduled and we have room for more! Let me know if you have any questions.
Have a great week! The snow is almost gone here in Virginia. More coming tomorrow night! Oh my!
