Youth volleyball
Question
We are trying to set up a volleyball program at our school for , 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 year olds. Nevertheless, we are not sure what volleyballs to use, or if they should play 2V2, 3V3, 4V4 or 6V6. We are not sure how those games should we play, or court measurements. Can you pointme in the right direction?
Answer
Good morning and welcome to www.allexperts.com! It's great to hear from you!
However, I don't know if I can help you much with this question. I'm not a PE teacher and I'm not an elementary school teacher.
I know there are "volleylites" for sale so that little ones can play volleyball w/o the pounding on the ball on their hands/arms. And I know that when kids play competitively at u10 and younger, the net is lowered and the court is made smaller.
However, you are asking me more age-specific questions that I don't think I can do much with b/c I've never taught any grade below 9th, and I've never coached any age below u14's.
I will point you in this direction: Is there an expert at www.allexperts.com in elementary teaching? or elementary PE teaching? That is the person to contact.
I'm sorry that I can't help you more. But I hope that you have time to visit me at www.coachhouser.com. Yes, you will see a few elementary school kids at my site participating in my summer camps. But what you'll see more of is smiling volleyball faces!
Please visit again! Maybe I can help you more later.
