Playing both JV & vars on the same night in Ohio
Question
In Ohio, how many games can a high school female volleyball player play in one night? Splitting time between jayvee and varsity.
Answer
Good evening Lorrie and welcome to allexperts.com.
I don't feel much like an expert now b/c I can't answer this question. The answer varies from state to state. Sometimes it varies within the state.
For example, in Virginia a public school girl cannot play in both JV and varsity in a single night. Yet, in some of the private schools, a girl may play in both; but, she is limited to 5 total sets. Wow. Then, those same private schools will allow a girl to play in as many middle school games and varsity games on the same night as she wishes. I'm serious. A coach just told me that a few days ago. (I don't know the middle/JV rule, or if one exists.)
If you are a mom, your school's AD will know the answer. When you get that answer, you may want to ask, "Is this a school rule, a conference rule, or a state rule?" If you don't trust his answer to that question (b/c some people will tell parents whatever will shut them up), then ask another AD in the same conference, then ask him the same follow up question. The principal may know, or may not. But the AD's should.
I'm sorry that I can't be of more help.
