QuestionFor high school players -- the rule states that the server must be behind the end line and between the sidelines at the moment of contact of the serve, but can you start your serve approach from behind the end line but on the outside of the sideline?
Our server starts her jump serve approach from a foot or two outside of the sideline (if you were to extend the sideline to the rear of the court). She jumps and contacts the ball after she has enter the area directly behind the court.
Is this a legal serve?
AnswerGood evening!
Welcome to www.allexperts.com.
I've been coaching high school ball for 19 years using the National Federation rule book. I've reffed 4 of the past 7 years. I don't remember what you described ever being illegal. As a USAV coach for 22 years, I see it.
What else can I do for you? If there's anything else, please follow up, or email me at
