Is it too late for me to start Volleyball?

I'm really scared that I'm not going to be able to play volleyball next year (ill be a sophomore) What should i expect when i sign up? Is there an audition or something? Am i automatically going to be in? Please tell me what to expect because i have no idea what will happen. But im really interested in the sport because it seems so fun!
