10u Girls Fastpitch Pitch\Batter

Question
I have a couple questions. In ASA 10u girls do the pitchers have two start with both feet in contact with the pitchers plate (6-1-C/2)?
Next happened the other night, Batter came up to bat took position 2 to 3 inches from homeplate umpire had her back up in the box, pitcher started the pitch bringing the ball out\up in front of her, at the same time the batter maved back to the position of 2 to 3 inches from home plate pitcher stopped this happened twice a warning was given to the pitcher first then a "ball" was called, Is there not a rule to keep a batter from crowding the plate, what if they were hit or they hit the ball?
Sorry about the length
Thanks, John
Answer
Good morning John,
Yes, both feet must be in contact with the pitcher's plate.
I don't see anything wrong in your batting description. As long as the batter is in the batter's box they can stand where ever they want. I don't know why the umpire moved her if she was legally in the box. I would think this is why (s)he moved her (just a guess) Prior to the pitch if any part of her foot was outside the lines of the box (they can touch the lines) then she is not in the box and the umpire made her get legal.
Actually in 10u we want the girl's to learn the game, many umpires consider that. By the book if a pitcher stops their delivery once started it is an illegal pitch and no warnings are given.
