sliding when there is a play at home or any base

2016/7/15 18:01:36

Question
Is a player required to slide when there is a play at homeplate or any base.

Answer
Good morning Robert,
Under ASA rules a runner is not required to slide.  Local rules can of course change that for league play.  In my opinion if there is such a local rule it is a mistake because of liability. "I HAD to slide and broke my leg....where's my lawyer".

So in any ASA qualifying or championship play a runner is never required to slide.
