Question
Hi Mark,
Womens ASA league. We are playing in a tournament. We are visitors. It is top of the 7th, no outs, we are down 7 to 5. We score two runs tying the game and have runners on 2cd and 3rd. The game is called for lighting however the officials do not wait to see if we can resume play but rather turn the lights off and head home immediately. Now they tell us they will revert to the 6th inning and we lose. What's your call?
Answer
Good morning Steve,
It might not seem fair but that is the correct ruling. If a regulation game can't be finished the score of the game is that of the last completed inning.
In ASA tournaments it is the tournamnet director that makes the call on weather and resumption of play not the umpires or even the umpire-in-chief. The TD has complete authority in this senerio.
