excessive play

Question
Who governs Softball associations in this country? IF there is someone, IS THERE A LIMIT AS TO HOW MANY GAMES THEY CAN have TEAMS TO PLAY in a day?
We play USFA 14U and it seems the tourney's are getting more and more teams to play on the same amount of fields in the same amount of time.
2 weeks ago a tournament was scheduled to where a team would have to play 9 games in a single day. THE ONLY BREAKS WERE BETWEEN EACH GAME 10 MINS. NO LUNCHES OR DINNER BREAKS. THIS TEAM ACTUALLY WON THE TOURNEY AND COMPLETED THE 9 GAMES IN OVER 15 HRS OF STRAIGHT PLAY.
THIS PAST WEEKEND AT THE WORLD SERIES IN PANAMA CITY BEACH, FLA. THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO OUR TEAM WE WOULD HAVE HAD TO PLAY 8 GAMES STRAIGHT TO WIN IT. THIS TO ME IS CHILD ABUSE. SOME OF OUR PLAYERS ARE OF THE TOUGHEST OUT THERE AND STILL BLACKED OUT AT BAT AND EXPERIENCED HEAt stroke side effects during the game. The dog track down the road doesn't even do that to the dogs!!
If ASA has guildlines to protect the kids i believe we need to not play USFA any more and stick with ASA...
Answer
Hi Andrew,
Sorry this took so long, I never got the e-mail telling me I had a question.
I've umpired in FL (2002 men's D E) and I agree the weather can be brutal. It's tough on adults let alone kiddies.
I know ASA limits the numbers of teams in some championship play but I'm not familar with your area. Contact the ASA commis in your playing area and ask him about ASA 14U. If you don't know how to do that email me back and I'll look it up for you.
