If a player hits the ball in the outfield, looks like it might go over the fence. A fielder takes off his/her glove, and throws it at the ball, maybe trying to prevent it from going over the fence. What would be the ruling?
In this case the fielder did not hit the ball, nor did the ball go over the fence. But he did throw his glove. So we were just wondering what the ruling would be, eg. double, triple?
Answer -
Hi Kathy,
I need to know exactly what game you are playing (ie fp, sp, coed, etc.

We were playing coed arc pitch when the question came up.
Answer
Hi again,
in this case because the glove did not touch the ball there is no penalty.
If the glove touches the ball the award is 3 bases from the time of the pitch or a 4 base award if in the judgement of the umpire the ball would have cleared the fence.
