How do I view answers to questions?

Thanks for your reply, I know what you mean about a knowledgeable coach or manager being a lazy umpire's nightmare.  The only thing worse is an umpire who plays also (me).  I was in a tournament this summer and I hit a looping liner down the third base line that I really thought was going foul and the home plate umpire did not say anythinq (as he shouldn't have), but he didn't point fair either so I trotted down to first base with the bat in my hand.  You know where this is going, the first base umpire emphatically called me out for carring the bat to a base.  I explained that I was an umpire and asked the first base umpire to consult with the home plate umpire on the rule and the home plate umpire backs the base umpire up and called me OUT!  Unfortunately, for the base umpire, I was playing second base and spent most of the next half inning (very quietly) lecturing the umpire on how he should know the rules if he wants to be a good umpire, and to go home and look the rule up.  I must admit I felt a little bad chastising a fellow umpire, but I couldn't help it. Not only was it a big play, but my teammates were giving me the "how could you do that" look.

Thanks again for your advice.  FYI, if ASA does not clarify the 'crossing of the 20 foot commitment line rule' next year, our league will address this in our own Rules & Playing Conditions.   Personally, I do not feel one foot over the line is crossing it.  It's like a stream, you have not CROSSED it until both feet are on the other side.  If one foot is still in the water, you have not CROSSED the stream. First, thank you for answering my "What constitutes crossing the 20 foot commitment line?" question.  My fellow umpires and I would like to view the answers to your other questions but cannot seem to easly access them.  We can get to Allexperts.com, and finally get to you at softball and see where you have answered 425 questions, but cannot seem to access the questions and answers.  Are we missing something?  It should be much easier to find your (and the other expert's) answers to questions asked.  Thank you, Mike

they delete some from time to time so there's about 300 questions from me and a coach.  the coach is a pretty smart guy also.

I love a coach who knows the rules but they're a lazy umpire's worst nightmere.

ps I received an answer from a friend of mine who in addtion to being an outstanding umpire, called the plate in the ncaa women's world series championship game a few years ago and he agrees with my answer.  Waiting on 1 more from someone out of town but i'm sure he's going to agree also

Hi again Mike,

Unless it's in a case book file I doubt there will be much more clarification.

I understand your stream example and local leagues are free to adjust rules but one thing I've learned in 3 national ASA schools is that ASA loves "consistency" in it's rules, dress, techniques, etc.  I believe the one foot on the ground is consistent with the other rules.

BTW, your 'carrying the bat" out, I'm sure you know now that you should have protested that call immediately as a misapplication of a playing rule.
