Fastpitch Bat Weight

2016/7/15 17:59:33

Question
How do you tell if a bat is the proper weight for one of your players? One of my players asked the question and I could not answer it. Thanks in advance for your help.

Jim

Answer
One easy way to test if the bat isn't too heavy is to swing the bat a few times using just one hand (the lead hand). If they can they can swing the bat with one hand with speed and control it should be okay. Another way is to have the kid hold a bat out in front of them with one hand. If they can hold the bat out for 20 - 30 seconds without having the hand drop it should be okay.
