Pitchers release

2016/7/15 17:58:50

Question
I have a 12 year old daughter that pitches.  She has real good speed and control but she doesn't always let the ball roll off her fingers as she releases it, thus losing potential speed and some control.  Any tips on how to make this become a natural release?
Thanks for your help!

Answer
The Schutt Weighted Ball and Spin Right Spinner are a couple of excellent tools to encourage maximum wrist and finger snap.

They can both be found at:

If you are on a tight budget you can also try placing a stripe right down the middle of the ball (black electrical tape or permanent marker). Use the ball for rotational work to insure the proper rotation is being used. The stripe gives instant feedback to the player and is easy for the catcher to see and determine what rotation has been used with the ball.
