Time limit at the end of the game

2016/7/15 17:57:38

Question
I coach in a rec league and have been frustrated twice due to the time limit of our game. The umpire claims it's ASA rules, but it sure wasn't when I played. We have an hour and 30 minute time limit, hour and 40 max. We are the visiting team and down by three. We start the sixth inning at an hour and 27 minutes and get four runs. We take the field at an hour and 36 minutes and get through one out and the umpire calls the game due to the hour and 40 minute time limit. The score reverts back to what it was at the end of the fifth inning. We lose the game by three runs. This makes no sense to me. How can the game be over in the middle of an inning with two outs to go? Please help me understand! I can't take the look in these 12 years olds' eyes when I tell them they lost the game!!!
Thanks.

Answer
Good morning Melissa,
For pool play it is no inning shall start after 1hr 40 minutes so you finish the inning.

You must have a local rule with an absolute time limit, check with your assoc.

The actual rule is 5.10 In all JO class a, class b and gold pool play and in 10u pool and double elim play no inning shall start after 1hr 40 min.

There are some exceptions for 10u
