Ball comes to rest leaning against home plate

Question
This question pertains to ASA fast pitch 12-U girls. A batter hits a ball straight down onto home plate. The ball rolls off home plate and comes to rest in the dirt but leaning against the back angled portion of home plate. Fair ball or foul ball?
Answer
Thanks for the question!
The foul line and the white part of 1st and third bases and the white part of home plate, all are in fair territory. Batted balls are judged fair or foul based on their position in relation to the foul line when the ball is first touched by a defensive team member whether the ball is flying through the air or rolling on the ground. If in your judgment the ball was over any part of the white on the plate as it settled there, then it must be a fair ball. But again, this is your judgment.
I hope this answers your question, if not please reply.
