scoring a squeeze bunt

2016/7/15 17:57:17

Question
On a successful squeeze bunt in which the batter-runner reaches base due to a play at the plate.  The batter is credited with a run batted in in almost all cases.  I realize that.  Is the batter credited with a sacrafice or a fielder's choice?

Answer
Thanks for the question!

I would say sacrifice if it was obvious the batter would/should have been out.  It's not spelled out very well in the ASA Rule Book, but based on the definition of sacrifice fly (I know.. not very related) as well as Rule 11 Scoring, that's how I'd score it.

I hope this helps answer your question, if not please reply.
