Question
Our 12U girls' fastpitch team came up against a pitcher who starting with the ball in her glove in front of her, took a backward swing with the ball, then brought the ball back to her glove and completed her windup.  Is this legal? If not, what can happen?

Answer
Hi Bonz,
Im not sure I understand your description.

The hands must be seperated during taking of the signal, the ball can either be in the glove or hand

The hands must be brought together for at least 1 sec/not more than 10

The pitch begins when the hands are seperated

The pitcher must not use a pitching motion in which after bringing the hands together in the pitching position , the pitcher removes one hand from the ball and returns the ball to both hands

They can bring the arm to the side and to the rear before beginning the windmill motion

If there is a violation it is an illegal pitch.
