Question
Being a place hitter i often try to hit the biggest hole by not following through with the swing once i make contact. Both hands are near the knob of the bat but some say that my hits are bunts because im not following through with the swing and should be outs. (Bunts not allowed in senior softball) Is it a bunt if i stop my swing when i make contact with the ball ?

Answer
Hi Ralph,

Actually I have seen this a number of times.  Sometimes the player will approach me ahead of time and tell me what they plan to do, sometimes not, but I have enough experience to see what's going on.

As you know you cannot bunt or chop and what you do does not meet either definition.

In my opinion and other senior umpires I've worked with you are legal.
