10 U re entry and stealing home

2016/7/15 17:56:05

Question
I was taught that you can never steal home.  Last night the team we were playing stole home on an overthrown pickoff attempt at second.  The play began with runners on 1st and 3rd.  When the player was stealing 2nd the ball got past the second baseman and the runner stole home.  Is this legal?

The other question I have is re-entry of the pitcher.

Pitcher leaves the game - she was in the 4th position batting.  The player entering the game is the shortstop and previous ss (batter 6) goes to pitch. Now the SS is batting 4th.  I want to put my pitcher back in - does the SS have to come out?  If not - where does everyone bat the next inning.  The umpire had no clue but it was the last inning so we did not worry about it.  I told them I would find out from you today.

Answer
Hi Teri,
In 10u the player on 3rd can only score on
a batted ball
a bb or batter hit w/ bases full
on a an awarded base when the ball goes out of play
or an illegal pitch
so in 10u they cannot come home w/ the play you talk about.

#2  If you want to return starter 1, the sub must come out(that would be your ss) we don't care where they play defense.
