ASA softball collision at home plate

Question
I know that there is no sliding rule in ASA, but what about the runner colliding at home with the catcher who has the ball and is putting on a tag on the runner, who doesn't slide but intentionally collides with my catcher twice in the same game. Should the umpire have warned the other team to avoid contact on close plays by sliding or not running into my catcher the first time they collided with my catcher? Because of the second collison he now has a torn patella tendon!
Answer
Good morning Newton,
You are correct you do not have to slide in ASA, but neither can you collide with a defensive player who has the ball...8-7-q
the runner is out when a defensive player has the ball and the runner remains upright and crashes into the defensive player.
If the act if flagrant the player would be ejected.
IMO there is no need for the umpire to warn any player about this rule...they should know it (as should the umpire). If the runner collided with your catcher who had the ball at the very least they would be out the 1st time they did it.
