Question
thanks in advance
this happened last night score 14-13 bottom 7th runner on first, runner steals winning team says she left early ump agrees but does not call runner out, runner on 2nd pitcher pitches runner leads off but does not steal, ump calls runner out for leaving early was this the coorect call?
thanks

Answer
Hi Bill,

I don't know I didn't see the play.

If the runner left early going from 1st-2nd (either in fp or sp) we have a dead ball, out, no pitch.  So I don't know why you don't have an out there if the umpire said she left early.

I'm assuming this is fp, so she could be out at 2nd for leaving the base while the pitcher was in the cirle w/ possesion of the ball (look back rule) or she left the base before the pitcher released the ball.  Either would be  correct call.
