Hello Kalee,
How old are you? Your age has a lot to do with what kind of exercises you could do for your arm strength. Please read the throwing tips I gave to Cerissa earlier. To get overall arm speed and strength, you really need to focus on using your whole upper body to throw. Your arm really just acts as a stabilizer when you throw. It is your back, core, and chest muscles...even your legs that make the ball really go. This is because your single throwing arm's strength is nothing compared to the rest of your body.
Another thing for you to remember is that shortstop is a leadership position on the field. Your coach may want her there because she is a year older and may be more emotionally mature. This may or may not be the case, but it happens in softball a lot!
Answer
Hello again, since you are only 13, I would not tell you to start a weight training program just yet. You can though so things like pushups, situps, pullups or assisted pullups. Situps will help with core strengh, which is important.
An important shoulder exercise is to hold 2.5 dumbells in your hand and raise up from your hips until your arms are level with your shoulders. Do 3 sets of 15 to your side and then 3 sets of 15 in front.
