Pitching plate at wrong distance

2016/7/15 17:50:35

Question
ASA Rules

With one out in the third inning, Team A's caoch informs the umpire that the pitching rubber is the wrong distance.  After measuring, it id discovered that indeed it is not the proper distance.

Question:  Do we stop the game immediately, or do we finish the inning out with the wrong distance?

Please let me know the rule reference number and/or page number where this rule is found in the ASA rulebook.

Answer
Hello Mac

I don't have the current year ASA rule book however the rule should be found under Rule 2 - The Playing Field, Section 1

Basically it states anytime an incorrect distance (pitcher抯 plate or bases) is discovered, it shall be corrected immediately, even though one team may have been placed at a disadvantage.
