Brackets for a Five Team Tournament

2016/7/15 17:49:17

Question
We recently played a tournament with five teams.  The schedule of games were as follows.  Seed 4 vs Seed 5, Seed 2 vs Seed 3 and Seed 1 receiving a bye and playing the winner of Seed  4 vs Seed 5.  Is that the proper bracket?  It seems to me it should be 2 vs 5, 3 vs 4 with 1 playing the winner of 3 vs 4.  Thanks for your help! What does ASA say?

Answer
Hi Prestyn,

I'm a tournament uic not a tournament director.  In ASA all our tournaments (as far as I know and have been involved in) are blind draws.

I agree w/ your statement about seeds.  I don't know why a td would run the bracket the way you stated.
