Question
If a player is running from second base to third, the thirdbase-man has the ball in his left hand and tags the runner with his right hand, is the player out? and what if he tags the player and throws it to first base immediately after tagging?

Answer
Thanks for the question!

On a tag you have to tag a person with the ball in your hand or in your glove.  The hand or glove with the ball MUST be the hand that tags the player, otherwise there is no tag.  If you tag someone with the hand or glove without the ball, it is NOT a tag.  The runner would not be out and the throw to first would still be a force play no matter the outcome of the tag attempt at third.

I hope this helps answer your question, if not please reply!
