Weather canellations & determining placements

Question
Are there any ASA or NSA rules regarding cancellations due to weather, ie. rain. What about determining placements? We were in a tourny this weekend in Stevens Point, WI. Rain on Sunday cancelled the remaining games, which includes the championship. Teams in the running for 1st - 3rd played either 2, 3, or 4 games. The tourny directors looked at wins, losses, runs scored, and runs given up. In our opinion if not all teams played the same number of games, how can you include the results of the teams who played more than 2 games? Is there any ASA guideline to follow for placements once a tourny is called?
Any insight, resources, etc. you can direct me to would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
Answer
Hi Kim,
Under ASA there are very detailed and complex rules. I have never had to use them and as Tournament UIC it's not my job.
I'm sure the TD would ask me to be involved and the first call would be to the State UIC who would inform the State Commissioner. I'm sure in our state somebody would be on the way to sort it out or we would do it point by point over the phone. The State Commissioner or their delegate would use the printed regs to determine the outcome.
I know you want specifics but I can't give them to you because I don't know them all. I do know it has to do with games won, games played, # of runs scored, etc...etc... I do know it is printed out and consistent in ASA.
