Question -
if a bat is altered such as not  having the original hand grip tape and very heavily taped to and  around bat handle ?fpnuo

Answer -
Thanks for the question!

The answer is yes and no.  Replacing a grip is not a problem, but you are only allowed 2 layers of tape on the bat.  A grip with more than 2 layers does not conform to ASA standards.  You can also put only 2 layers of tape on top of a normal grip.  See ASA Rule 1, Definiton of "Altered Bat."

I hope this helps answer your question, if not please reply!

Answer
To me as long at the safety knob is going to keep people safe, I usually don't mind too much.  At a national tournament, I will actually swing the bats I think may not have enough knob exposed on them to see for myself.
