Question
National Federation High School- A runner attempting to steal third is thrown out by two steps. Third baseman blocks third and applies low tag, but runner elects not to slide, collides with the third baseman kicking the glove with her stride(not malicious in the sense that they drop a shoulder oe throw an elbow etc). The third baseman is knocked down and the ball falls out. Out because of collision or safe because the ball is dropped.
Answer
Thanks for the question!
Dead Ball, runner out. You are not allowed to remain upright and plow over ANY defensive fielder. Even if obstruction occurs first. Plowing over a fielder trumps obstruction. If it is ruled malicious, then the runner shall also be ejected.
