Legal Pitching technique or not?

2016/7/15 17:48:35

Question
I am asking a question regarding a concern that has come up in our men's slow pitch softball league.  I am one of the better pitchers in the league and now a couple teams are claiming that my technique is illegal.  I start with my hands in front of me one foot on the rubber holding the ball in my glove after I show the batter.  As I draw back to pitch, I pull the ball out of my glove on the backswing of my arm, while I have my empty glove(left hand) partially in front of my right arm...I then follow through...they are claiming that I am hiding my pitch, and that it is illegal.  I am not delivering from the glove, but my left arm is somewhat in front of my right pitching side...is this legal or not?

Answer
Hi Chris,

Let's see.... you are 50' from the batter, have to deliver the pitch between 6-12' at a moderate speed which gives them 2 1/2-4 secs to watch the ball and they're complaining your hiding the ball?

Just in case I missed it, I looked up "thou shall not attempt to hide the ball from the batter in slow pitch."  Other than coming to a full and complete stop with the ball in front of you, facing the batter for at least 1 sec. or pitching from the glove, I couldn't find anything that qualifies.

You are legal, ask them to give you chapter and verse that says your not.
