Question
Scenario:  If a team starts with 10 batters however has a total of 12 on the beach, can batters 11 or 12 come into the game at any point and substitute for any of the other batters?  If so do they just take the place in the line up of the batter they replaced?  Is the only way they can play in the field is if the team batted 12 the whole game and only played 10 in the field?

Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
Thanks for the question!

The EP is used only in Slow Pitch in ASA.  It allows you to bat 11 players while using 10 defensively.  If you have a 12th person, this person would have to be a proper subsitute for another person in the lineup.  However you MUST start the game using the EP, as you can not use it after the game is started.  If you start with 10 batters you have to stay with 10 the whole game.  If you start with 11, you need to finish with 11 in your lineup.  Of course you can use your subs when you need to, the original starter can only reenter once.

I hope this helps answer your question, if not please reply.
