Base runner force outs

2016/7/15 17:48:20

Question
When runners are on base and a force play is in effect, can the runner leave the occupied base and retreat back to hit when an infielder has the ball and ready to tag him?

Answer
Thanks for the question!

You can do this unless you're the batter running to first (then it's interference).  It is legal to do on every other base.  It's good strategy to prevent a double play.

I hope this helps answer your question, if not please reply!
