ASA Rules. If the team is playing a DP (designated player - batting 11; fielding 10) and one of the regular players is ejected from the game, can the DP take the field of the ejected player?
Answer -
Thanks for the question, but I need more info.
Are you talking about the Extra Player in Slow Pitch or the DP/Flex in Fastpitch?
Reply back so I can help!
This is slow pitch
Answer
Ok. In slow pitch we don't have the designated player, we have the extra player or EP. The designated player is used in fast pitch only.
The answer is yes and no. If you have a substitute that has not played in the game, you just put that person in the lineup and all is well.
If you don't have any available substitutes, then you have problems. In ASA tournament play, you can not finish with one less player than you started with as a result of an ejection. In other words, the game would be forfeited. Now this is the actual ASA rule, but leagues usually will allow you to just take an out every time the ejected player comes to bat so you can keep playing.
I hope this helps answer your question, if not please reply!
