A force out call

2016/7/15 17:47:07

Question
My question to you is on a force out once the fielder has control of the ball in her glove hand can she touch the base with her other hand and it be an out?

Answer
Hi J,

The rules only require contact with the base while the ball is in the control of the fielder, so the answer is yes we have an out.

It can be any part of the body touching the base, in an earlier question like this I mentioned that in one of my games  a SS tripped and fell while attempting to force a runner at 2nd.  He rolled (on purpose) 2 or 3 times to roll over the base while in control of the ball, we had an out.
