Question
asa womens modify

this situation took place at a game that played yesterday. my team plays in the same league.

with two outs runner on first base, batter hits a double, runner attempts to score misses the plate the catcher drops the ball while trying to tag the runner as she crosses the plate. the batter-runner never stoped running and touched home plate and went into the dugout before the catcher retrieved the ball and taged the player that she missed the first time for the third out. does the run score?     thanks, lisa

Answer
Hi Lisa,

It's hard to understand how a b-r could score before R1 was tagged but...stranger things happen.

The run would not score in this case.  8-3-f If the failure to touch a base in regular order...is the 3rd out of the inning no succeeding runner may score a run.

BTW once the b-r scored or left the field of play, R1 is not allowed to return to touch the base.
