Question
two weeks ago, our girls (18u) played in a tournament. we were one game from the championship. However, we placed 4th. the team who placed third, forfieted before we had a chance to play them. i was wondering, is it possible to place if you forfiet... or does forfieting exclude you from the tournament?
Answer
Hello Dennis
A forfeited game is nothing more than a loss.
This was a double elimination tournament correct? The longer a team can stay in the winner抯 bracket towards the end the more likely they will place. When the last two winners play in the winner抯 bracket the team that loses is guaranteed to do no worst than third place. The winner of the winner抯 bracket is guaranteed no worst than second place
The team that forfeited already earned third place and could do no worst than third. It was their first loss so they were to play the winner of your game. Your team could do no worst than fourth. Apparently your team lost and your team came in fourth. The team that beat your team got a 揵ye?because of the forfeit so they could do no worse that second place.
