Question
I have 20 girls on my team. I want to play them all. Do the subs go into the batting order slot of the girl they are replacing? How do I put the girls back into the lineup on the batting order after I have replaced them once. Our league has free subs in any position but the batting order confuses me
Answer
Twenty players? - Wow that makes it very difficult to give players equal playing time. If there is a game time limit (typical) then some players may not get to bat or play defense. This will make for some unhappy players and angry parents even if you do manage to equalize playing time.
Check your league rules. Many intramural leagues that have free substitutions also have the option for the team to bat the line-up. Basically this means if you have 20 players they would all bat in the order they are placed on the lineup card (they must stay in the same batting order however you may freely sub and move players for the 9 positions on the field (or 10 if slow pitch).
If only 9 are allowed in the batting order just make sure that if a player is replaced in the batting order then brought back in they go back to the batting position they started at.
