Question
Should girls fastpitch pitchers take a break from pitching for serval months or weeks? If so,how often and how long?

Answer
Basically it depends on the athlete. Physically I don抰 think pitching in games and practicing year round would be a problem however mentally it may be a different story. It certainly doesn抰 hurt to put the ball and glove away for a couple of months. I抳e always encourage them to take a few weeks off. This seems to help the pitcher recharge and also helps prevent softball burnout.   If they wanted to practice a couple of times a week during to off season to I would be okay with that, however I wouldn抰 make it mandatory, let them decide.
