Question
the ball is hit in fair territory just in from of the plate, bounces fair, but has enough spin to return to fair terrritory.  it is then fielded by the pitcher.  is the ruling (what ever it is the same for softball and baseball?

Answer
Hi Katherine,

I assume you mean bounces "foul" but then returns to fair territory.

In this case if the ball is first touched by a defensive player in fair territory it would be a fair ball.  I don't do baseball but this is a pretty standard playing rule so I'm sure it's the same.
