pitching fastpitch

Question
I have a question regarding fastpitch pitching.  I have a 14 yr old daughter who pitches about 53mph and takes pitching lessons.  How do you know if the technique she is being taught is correct.  Some coaches tell you that you should follow through and touch the shoulder and others have said that is incorrect.  What is the correct way?  My daughter has been taught to do the follow through.  Is she doing it all wrong?

Answer
Well, my theory on this will probably contradict what she is being taught.  I teach my girls that the follow through should actually go to the opposite shoulder.  For a right-handed pitcher, the follow through should go to the left shoulder.  If you think of it like a baseball pitcher,  His overhand throwing motion finishes toward the opposite hip, the same is true with the underhand motion.  It is a more natural follow through for the hand to go to the left shoulder.  I studied Bill Hillhouse's video's and am a strong advocate of his teaching methods.  He pitched for the U.S. national team for many years and you can purchase his video's at houseofpitching.com.  His beliefs don't agree with a lot of pitching coaches today, but you were asking my opinion, so there it is.  I hope your daughter has continued success in pitching, and please let me know how her progress is doing.
