Question
I have a runner on third base , the batter at the plate gets a walk and i have her run to first and keep running down to second (with out stopping) is the runner out If the pitcher has the ball in the circle.
Answer
Hi Mike,
The look back rule doesn't go into effect until the b-r touched 1st. A walk is treated as a batted ball.
If the pitcher has control of the ball in the circle...
A b-r who rounds 1st base toward 2nd may stop but then must immediately w/out stopping return to 1st or attempt to advance non stop to 2nd.
A b-r who overuns 1st toward rt field turns left, and immediately stops must then return non stop to 1st or attempt to advance non stop to 2nd.
a b-r who overuns 1st toward rt field turns turns left and moves directly toward 2nd base and stops is committed to 2nd and must attempt to advance non stop to 2nd.
a b-r who overuns 1st base toward right field, turns left and moves back toward the infield in any direction expect directly toward 2nd is committed to 1st and must return non stop to 1st.
A b-r who overuns 1st toward right field and turns right is committed to 1st and must return non stop to 1st.
Sound to me like you are ok (based on your description.)
