Question
QUESTION: Would you please direct me to the rule regarding calling a strike on a player for an untucked jersey? thanks!
ANSWER: Hi Sandra,
You would have to go to the section of the rule book dealing with "a strike is called by the umpire" which is 7-4.
I don't think you'll find anything about untucked jerseys there though.

QUESTION: so is that a special rule that a league may have in place? There is a POE about
sporting behavior which mentions untucked jerseys but it doesn't say
anything about what the penalty is for unsporting behavior.
Answer
Hi Sandra,
Certainly some unsporting behavior is more serious than others. A hat worn backward is extremely minor compared to coaching tactics that endanger the safety of players or bringing an illegal or banned piece of equipment back into play. We have rules to deal with all of them.
Your local association may have a rule that a strike is called in this instance, I don't know. If they do they must have felt the need for such a rule.
In ASA play untucked jerseys, backward hats, babushkas, etc. can be handled very simply by the umpire just asking the player to comply. I have yet to have a player not comply quickly and almost always w/out comment or arguement.
I have authority to not let the player participate until they comply but I don't have a rule to call a strike in ASA play.
