Overwhelming pitcher

2016/7/15 17:40:28

Question
I am a high school softball coach. We start the 1st round of the playoffs soon, and I am in a dilemma.  The team we are facing is not superior at all.  We faced them two times in the season and beat them once.  The reason we lost once is because they have this overpowering pitcher; my hitters cannot not hit her.  I figure we have a great chance of winning if we manufacture 4-6 runs.  How can we get base runners on when you face a pitcher that has so much velocity on her fastballs?

JS

Answer
Jason,

I am not a coach but I'm gonna try to give you some tips. I think the best way would be to set your pitching machine to it's highest velocity. I also think you should try doing some more defensive work. The saying "defense wins games" has proven true many times. I am sorry I cannot help you more.

Jesse

P.S. Let me know how your games go.
