Question
Hi.  My daughter is 9 years old and wants to learn to pitch.  She's playing in a slow-pitch softball league now.  What are the basic mechanics that she should be using to pitch with relation to beginning pitching postion and consequent arm swing and step?  Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hi Peggy,

This is a very involved question, which would be hard to simply explain in an answer.  I'm going to give you a link to a website that goes from starting grip, to stance, to arm whip, to push off, etc..  This site also includes video clips which will show her what everything should look like when she starts pitching.  Sorry I couldn't be more specific, but after you visit this site, you'll see that it is a lot more involved than simple telling someone the basic mechanics in a short answer.  I hope you find this helpful, and please update me on her progress.
