mens fastpitch speed

Question
I've read that Eddie Feigner's pitch speed would reach over 100mph. Is that common in men's fastpitch at the highest level?
Answer
Hello Richard,
Unfortunately, I haven't been around any men's high level fastpitch, so I can't say with any certainty what is a normal speed for them. I had posted a response before about pitching speeds which I'll re-post here. As strong as athletes have gotten over the past few decades, I'd say there probably are a number of men who can reach 100 on the radar gun. Here is that previous response:
There was a pitcher in the 1996 Olympics (first year fastpitch softball was recognized as a sport in the Olympics) who was clocked at 118 k/ph. (that's 73.3 mph)That is the fastest speed I could find verified for a female pitcher. There are reports of male fastpitch softball players achieving 104 mph. Eddie Feigner of the famous traveling "King and his Court" team was one such person.
Baseball has Matt Anderson and Mark Wohlers who have both been clocked at 103 MPH. Below is a link that might interest you on the subject of fastpitch softball if your interested in speeds.
I hope this was helpful and let me know if you have any other questions.
