10-under FP stealing

2016/7/15 17:38:47

Question
I understand in 10 & under FP Class B that the runner on 1st or 2nd can only steal 1 base per pitch. The question is if the runner on 1st steals 2nd and the catcher overthrows 2nd trying to throw them out then can the runner advance on to 3rd? We understand that they can't but this has been challenged by some coaches.

Answer
Hi John,

In 10UB a runner on 1st or 2nd can only steal 1 base per pitch as you say.  They cannot advance to another base past the 1 they stole, however they are liable to be put out if between the base they stole and the 2nd one they are advancing to.  If they reach a base past the one they stole, during a dead ball we simply return them to the base they should be at.

Coaches can challenge anything but that's the rule.
