fast pitch or quick pitch in asa slowpitch

Question
When a catcher throws back to the pitcher, while the pitcher runs to the rubber.  He catches it on the run, steps on the rubber, and throws in one motion.  I barely got the bat back around and had to swing.  I was told that its my job to step out or call time.  I argued that it should of been a verbal no-pitch for quick pitching.  I was  told that the pitcher only needs to be on the rubber for a second.  The umpire also said good players call time after every pitch.  In asa where the umpire should be in control.    Time should never have to be called. This umpire umps asa and utrip.  Utrip, the pitcher controls the game like what happened.

Answer
HI Rod,

In ASA

The pitcher must take a position with both feet firmly on the ground and with 1 or both feet in contact w/ the pitcher's plate.

The pitcher must come to a full and complete stop w/ the ball in front of the body for at least 1 sec.

The pitcher shall not attempt a quick return of the ball before the batter has taken a position in the batter's box or when the batter is off balance

You don't need to call time between every pitch (the game would last forever)

The umpire also said good players call time after every pitch...that ridiculous

It seems by your question we don't have both feet firmly on the ground and no full and complete stop...and you were off balance after the last pitch (I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt), this is an illegal pitch and should be called as soon as it happens.
